#Aili 500a battery monitor update#
Update and closure on this issue: I did swap in the Renogy unit without difficulty. There is a tremendous amount of information on this forum which I searched through but I didn't find this situation discussed. The wiring diagrams are identical as are the screens, so it seems I should be able to just transfer the cables from the one to the other, taking appropriate precautions. My second question is whether I can just remove the AiLi unit and replace it with the Renogy unit (excellent Amazon Day price). I have concluded that the monitor itself has failed but I am not very experienced in this area. Now however, it goes from the reset 100% to 0% capacity within a few hours even though the voltage is 14.2 and there is no load. It again got fixed at a particular percentage and would go no higher even after the vehicle had been driven for several hours in the sun and the voltage was 14.2. The monitor worked fine again for about 6 months with a lot of driving but recently, after use of the inverter, it again showed capacity reducing substantially after the load was removed. I figured out the batteries were fine due to the 14.2 voltage and simply reset the monitor capacity to 100%. It stopped at around 50% and just stayed there even with sun and shore power.

This monitor worked fine until it showed the capacity going down after use of the inverter (the biggest load producer) even though the inverter was off and the vehicle was in full sun with 320W solar. My battery bank voltage is solidly 14.2v according to 3 different monitors, including my AiLi 500A battery monitor and the charge controller shows full. Has my battery monitor failed? I think my AiLi 500A battery monitor with shunt (which appears to be an exact copy of the Renogy 500A with shunt) has failed and I'm looking for confirmation that the symptoms reflect failure or whether there is some other part of the system that would produce the same symptoms.
